For Michael and Kelda, reimagining their Victorian cottage in Seymour was about preserving its charm while creating space for modern family life. Designed by Bruce Mactier Building Designers and built by Hateley Construct, with interiors by Resident Avenue, the extension introduces a striking black-clad exterior that contrasts beautifully with the softness within. An uneven structure presented a few challenges, but Hateley worked meticulously to integrate the old and new, restoring integrity while introducing new contemporary finishes. The custom blue and timber kitchen – crafted by Michael himself – anchors the living space, blending craftsmanship with calm, tonal elegance. Light, inviting and connected to the outdoors, this home celebrates heritage through a fresh, contemporary lens.
