Set among rolling hills in Yea, Jackie and her wife’s dream home was years in the making – an architecturally refined take on the Australian homestead. Arriving at Hateley with incomplete plans, they leaned closely on Grant and his team to evolve the design thinking and material selections, drawing inspiration from Grant’s own Homestead being built at the same time.
The result is a home that celebrates its setting and simplicity. Black steel gables frame the landscape, while reclaimed brick, timber joinery and polished concrete balance warmth with precision. Expansive glazing and open passageways create a seamless indoor-outdoor connection, with every line drawing the eye back to the views. The couple describe the process as transparent and meticulous – where their utmost trust was placed in Grant and the team – and every detail was refined until it felt just right.
“This is the house we want to live in forever,” says Jackie.
